Verizon to Launch Home Monitoring and Control Service
Visitors to this week’s Connected Home Global Summit in London were given an overview of the soon to be launch ‘Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service’, for its U.S. customers. The solution was developed in conjuction with 4Home and was first debuted at CES 2011. The idea behind the services is to get more of the devices in our homes connected and using power of the cloud we will have access to these devices from anywhere and at any time.
According to Eric Bruno, Verizon’s VP of Products Management, their goal is to offer a “coherent experience across platforms and devices without painful setup and management”. So, base on the features customers select Verizon will work with customers through third party to get it all setup, no long complicated manuals. Package options are Home Monitoring, Energy Control and Home Monitoring and Control.
The service will be affordable, simple, secure and customizable with an easy to use dashboard. Using their favourite smart-phone, tablet, laptop, PC and Television, customers will be able to monitor and control the devices at home. The service comes with the ability to access your home security cameras (from a smartphone and internet) to see what is happening inside and around the home.
Key features of the service:
- Door locks
- Lighting controls
- Home energy management
- Automated notification via SMS and e-mail
- Remote video monitoring
- Door, window and IR sensors
- Remote viewing, notifications, and control through home control interfaces
The Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service is schedule to launch early July this year for $9.99.
