Broadband Forum and UNH-IOL Issue First Set of BBF-069 Certificates

The Broadband Forum and the University of New Hampshire-InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) have issueed their first set of BBF-069 Certificates to Broadcom, Cisco, D-Link, Huawei and Lantiq. The certificate signifies that the device is TR-069 protocol compliant, which means it can be remotely manage. With TR-069 devices service providers have a easier job of managing remote base devices, removing the need to send out service engineers for common faults.

Channel Islands and Isle of Man Get Hybrid TV Services

France’s Neuilly-sur-Seine has partner with Getgem’s hybrid IPTV services to its customer base in Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Neuilly-sur-Seine is already a broadband provider in both areas; with the Netgem solution Neuilly-sur-Seine will be able to Over the Top (OTT) live and non-linear content to Netgem’s hybrid Set-top boxes (STB).
 

Time Warner Cable Selects Motorola EDGE Manager

Motorola's EDGE Manager has become Time Warner Cable (TWC) chosen platform for device management. The solution will allow TWC to access its subscribers devices and provide services such as software update and troubleshoot problems.  Time Warner Cable will be able to see these devices operating in real-time so that they can identify and address issues before they become a problem.
 

Comcast Completes Xfinity Home Service Launch in West Virginia

Comcast has announced the completion of its launch of Xfinity Home across the company's West Virginia service area. Xfinity Home offers traditional home security components, like police and fire alarm protection backed by 24/7 professional monitoring, as well as the ability to remotely adjust digital thermostats, turn lights on or off and watch secure live streaming video from wireless cameras while away from home. The service also comes with the Xfinity Home app, which is available for free on Apple's iTunes App Store and Google Play for Android.

STMicroelectronics Adds Twonky Media Server To Orly Multimedia Chip

STMicroelectronics and PacketVideo have collaborated to port the Twonky Media Server software to the STiH416 (Orly) connected home system-on-chip device.  According to both companies, the solution delivers state-of-the-art home multimedia capability, where content from many different sources can be stream to many different devices in the home, regardless of the original content format or the screen resolution of the display device.

NAGRA OpenTV5 Now Supports Set-top Box and Gateway Platforms

Service providers will welcome the news that NAGRA OpenTV 5 is supported on Set-Top Box, Gateway Platforms and other client devices. In partnership with IC manufacturer Broadcom NAGRA has developed a reference design for the NAGRA HomeCruise platform. The “off-the-shelf” solution now provides an accelerated path for service providers to get their product to market. At last month’s IBC 2012 show, NAGRA showcased the NAGRA HomeCruise microGateway, a solution that will allow service providers to extend their broadcast services in the home.

Marvell Showcased Connected Lifestyle Solution at Comm China

At this year’s PT/Expo Comm in China, Marvell Showcased and demonstrated an array of Smart home solutions including Android TV, LED lighting, home cloud solutions and G.hn reference designs.  The electronic company said it wants to work with local operators to integrate today’s three key platforms: Cloud, Smart TV and Smart mobile.

Marvell said they now offers a comprehensive suite of high performance video delivery solutions and a range of mobile and smart home devices to support the always-connected lifestyle.
