DTS Audio Selected For Ceton Echo Media Center Extender

DTS and Ceton Corporation have announced a joint partnership to integrate DTS’s audio technology into the upcoming Ceton Echo, a Windows Media Center Extender. With DTS audio, the Ceton Echo will offer users a more immersive, high-definition sound experience on Internet video services, live and recorded TV services and personal digital media libraries supported by the Echo.  Ceton Echo is expected to be available for sale later this year.

China, Japan and South Korea's Smart Grid Market To Double by 2016

AsiaThe Asian smart grid market of China, Japan and South Korea together are set to more than double to US$19 billion by 2016, according to a research report by GTM Research.  The report Titled “The Smart Grid in Asia, 2012-2016: Markets, Technologies and Strategies”, looks at the cumulative smart gird market of all three countries and provide a five year forecast.

Vivint Releases iPad Home Automation App

Vivint is offering a free home automation App to its customers with iPad. Customers can download the App from the Vivint to take advantage of the iPad’s large screen to manage their home automation system.  In addition to offering remote access for home automation features, customers can customize notifications from the app to receive notices via email and regular texts or push notifications, regarding security and other events in their home.

Microsoft Selected Dolby Digital Plus For Windows 8 Tablets and PCs

In March, Microsoft launched its new look Windows 8 operating system, now they have decided to enhance the sound quality with Dolby Digital Plus. According to Dolby Laboratories, its Dolby Digital Plus was selected by Microsoft for the upcoming Windows 8 tablets and PCs.  All PCs and tablets licensed to run Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows  RT editions will be able to enjoy Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 channel  and Dolby Digital two channel encoding.

Negear Offers 802.11ac Wireless Home Router (R6300)

Netgear’s is right on the pulse with this one, they have teamed up with Broadcom to create their first 802.11ac base router.  The Netgear R6300 Wi-Fi Router is the first 802.11ac dual gigabit Wi-Fi router of its kind.  With the R6300, you can get speed of up to 1300Mbps or 450Mbps depending on your setup. Because it is based on 802.11ac, it’s suggested that you will get better connectivity for your mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

Affinegy Adds Sagemcom’s TR-069 ACS To Portal Platform

Affinegy has made a strategic move to acquire the Sagemcom’s TR-069 ACS (Auto Configuration Servers) Solutions Business. According to Affinegy the acquisition has allowed it to expand its product range with Sagemcom’s TR-069 ACS Subscriber Manager and FrontLine, which are now part of Affinegy’s Portal Platform. They have also gained more customers in Europe, Asia, Central/South America Africa and Japan.

Sony To Launch TV Recorder and Media Storage Device, “Nasne”

Yamaha Introduces Home Theater Systems With AirPlay

The AV Division of Yamaha has introduced five low to mid-market home theater systems, called the HTiBs (home-theater-in-a-box). Standard across the range is front panel USB connectivity for other digital media systems and 100W subwoofers. Some models offer network connectivity with AirPlay to extend the flexibility and connectivity Apple base systems plus Yamaha’s CINEMA DSP 3D home theater experiences. They are also eco-friendly with the ability to reduce power consumption by 20 percent.
