Cisco Offers Easy Home Networking With "Connect Cloud"
Cisco has developed a new software platform for its Linksys Wi-Fi Routers. Labelled Cisco Connect Cloud, the new platform will make it easier to add devices to your home network and make them more accessible, said Cisco. To support the Connect Cloud, Cisco has also release Cisco Connect Cloud Mobile App, which features SimpleTap, a new interface for the Linksys Wi-Fi Router. Cisco also released six new developer apps to offer more control and convenience.
According to Cisco, Connect Cloud is design to take away the hassle and complication of connecting devices within our homes. Combine with SimpleTap, which allows you to connect devices to your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router with just a tap, swipe or scan. They said the average person would be able to use the application.
Cisco has also collaborated with Onkyo, to make them of the first CE manufacturers to integrate SimpleTap in their next range of wireless 7.1 AV Receivers. "SimpleTap really simplifies how our new 2012 AV receiver can be connected to the network, so people can instantly enjoy their favorite tunes from music streaming services such as Pandora, Spotify, SiriusXM Internet Radio and many other services", said Nobuaki Okuda, president, Onkyo.
There are six new developer apps including an app that lets people search and "beam" online videos to a Smart TV or AirPlay compatible device; an app that helps install home monitoring cameras and enables monitoring at home and on the go; and apps that give parents easy ways to keep their children safe online, even when mom and dad are not at home.

HipPlay: iOS based HipPlay by Axentra allows users to play, beam, share photos, music, videos on their phone,tablet, PC, Mac or TV when they want, where they want.
Gemini IP Camera Viewer: The Gemini IP Camera Viewer iPhone app by Gemini Solutions enables home monitoring at home and on the go for your on smartphone and tablet. The app also enables easy installation of home monitoring equipment.
TwonkyTwonky Video: Is a mobile browser app by Packet Video for Android and iOS based smartphones and tablets to browse online video services and "beam" them to your Smart TV or AirPlay devices.
Device Monitoring: The Device Monitoring by Xoriant "watches" your connected devices and gives you real-time status updates about them.
Netproofer: iOS and Android based Netproofer by Adroitent helps parents restrict access to specific websites for all users or per specific device.
Cisco also launched the new 802.11ac Linksys Smart Wi-Fi router (EA6500) with the Cisco Connect Cloud software already preinstalled. Also available is Linksys Universal Media Connector (WUMC710).
