Marvell and Jungo Introduce Gateway-on-a-Chip (GoC) for Always-on Connected Home
Jungo and Marvell have combined the Jungo’s OpenRG(TM) residential gateway software and Marvell's AVANTA(TM) Application Gateway-on-a-Chip (GoC) in one reference design for the always-on connected home. The news was made at this year’s Broadband World Forum in La Defense Paris France.
Service providers and network operators will have easier access to always-on home services and value-added applications using devices with the new residential gateway reference platform.
This collaboration also marks the addition of Marvell's flagship 2 GHz Application Processor, optical broadband, with smartphone-like power management, and Ethernet switch and transceiver integration to Marvell's AVANTA family of broadband optical solutions.
The AVANTA Application GoC is the first to introduce Universal Passive Optical Network(UPON) interface with seamless auto-sensing and auto-configuration between ITU-GPON, IEEE-EPON, China-specific EPPON, and Point-2-Point Gigabit Ethernet. While Jungo's OpenRG software offers a managed gateway with intelligent data routing with quality of service (QoS), carrier-class VoIP, IPv6 support, and virtual private networks with firewalls.
Jungo's OpenRG software platform also provides seamless support for multiple wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) technologies, including EPON, GPON Gigabit Ethernet, USB and WiFi. The modular software architecture is easily tailored to offer additional capabilities and services.
