NEC Includes TwonkyMedia and MediaFusion in Femtocell Solution
At this year’s Mobile World Congress, NEC demonstrated their Femtocell solution which offers PacketVideo’s TwonkyMedia connected home applications and MediaFusion content management and delivery platform. The solution is the result of collaboration between PacketVideo and NEC Corporation. The Femtocell solution is aimed at both consumers and mobile service providers.
According to NEC its Femtocell solution will allow mobile operators to offer consumers indoor, high speed access to their favourite media service. By embedding PacketVideo’s connected home solution mobile operators can expand their services to include on-demand service such as Blockbuster, Netflix and Pandora. “With Packet Video we are demonstrating how femtocell’s enhanced levels of connectivity can give users greater access and control over their media experience,” said Anil Kohli of NEC.
TwonkyMedia is a combination of application geared towards the provision of digital entertainment and services in the home. The service is accessible via your home network or mobile devices, such as TV and PCs and mobile phones. MediaFusion is navigation portal for mobile devices that enables easy access to multiple applications and services, such as music downloads, ringtones, games and videos using single, holistic application.
