Pace Launches HD Set-top Boxes For PayTV Operators
Pace has announced its latest set of High Definition set-top boxes for the connected home. The new set-top boxes are expected to offer pay TV subscribers an advanced viewing experience. The boxes offer a number of flexible features to enhance users viewing experience and network setup options. Operators are expected to benefit from the devices, which are accompanied by upgraded software, business consulting, specialised customer care call centre and product delivery services.
The set-top boxes can receive content via IP and traditional broadcast, so they are able to receive OTT, On Demand and broadcast content as well as offering full HD and 3D capabilities. The new range allows operators to deliver new services and move towards a converged home offering without the need to replace their deployed hardware.
The set-top boxes can either be the gateway or be placed some were else in the home to act as hub and based on the customer’s preferred networking method; they can connect via Wi-Fi, Powerline or Coaxial. Options include an 802.11n wireless HD IP client, a Powerline home networking HD IP Client and an ethernet/MOCA HD IP Client.
“PayTV companies across the globe want to provide entry level set-top boxes at one end, but also cater for the consumer who wants to light up all screens with a great payTV experience.” Darren Fawcett, chief technical engineer. According to Darren the new range does just that by lowering the costs associated with introducing and developing home networks.
