Sony To Launch TV Recorder and Media Storage Device, “Nasne”
Sony has announced plans to launch a new 500GB NAS device for today’s digital home. The new “Nasne” device as it is called comes with built in digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast tuners. Nasne works with other Sony Apps such as "Torne" for PlayStation3 (PS3) and "VAIO TV with Nasne" for VAIO so that you can watch and record digital TV and satellite broadcast programs.
Using the Sony’s PlayStationVita (PS Vita), "Sony Tablet" and Xperia you will be able to access and stream live or recorded television programs simultaneously from the Nasne onto any of these two devices. Nasne will be able to access television guide* allowing you to schedule recordings on the go from your smart phone, PS Vita, PC, and tablet.
PlayStation 3: PS3 users will be able to watch and record programs via the network by installing "torne" version 4.0, which will come bundled with "nasne." It allows a maximum of four Nasne connections.
PlayStationVita: Due later this year as part of suite is Tone for PS Vita, an app that will allow you to access the Nasne via Wi-Fi from anywhere within your home.
VAIO PC: Soon to release is "VAIO TV with nasne", an App that allows you to access the Nasne via Wi-Fi or Wired to record and watch television programs. "VAIO TV with nasne" will be available for Windows 7 VAIO PCs through VAIO Update. According to Sony it will be the same time as Nasne.
Other features of "VAIO TV with nasne": Recorded television programs on "nasne'" can be copied to Blu-ray Disc and DVD, or transferred to VAIO PC's HDD or State Solid Drive (SSD); Up to eight digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasts can be simultaneously recorded by connecting a maximum of eight "nasne" hardware units to VAIO PC; Television programs can be searched by keywords.
