Talk Talk Makes First Move With YouView
Talk Talk who is a member of the YouView project has announced that they are planning an internal trial of the service. The company said they are hoping to start in the first quarter 2012 before the general go live date in spring. YouView was suppose to have gone live in 2011 but was delayed due to different issues.
The project which started as the Canvas Project has been in the making for sometime and promises to give British home access to video-on-demand and web services via their broadband.
According to Talk Talk the trial will "focus on the end-to-end customer experience" and will involve 3,000 YouView set-top boxes, supplied to its staff.
The YouView partnership which includes TalkTalk, Channel 4, Channel 5, BBC, BT, Arqiva and ITV will also do a trial before go live. They are planning to involve about 10,000 customers.
"The firm will look to bundle the YouView proposition with its broadband and home phone services - known as "triple play"”, said Dido Harding, Talk Talk chief executive. ”We see YouView as an opportunity to bring TalkTalk's value for money disruptive proposition into the triple play world of phone, broadband and TV."
