ZigBee Certified Products Up 60 Percent
ZigBee this month is celebrating passing the landmark of having over 500 ZigBee Certified products on the market. Within a short of period of one year, ZigBee have seen a 60 percent increase in certified products. ZigBee certification covers all areas of the connected home ecosystem, to ensure that different manufacturers’ solution interoperate with each other.
The alliance’s standards serve over 350 manufacturers globally with combine annual revenue of over $1 Trillion. ZigBee is also the most widely used IEEE 802.15.4 technology accounting for 40 percent of total shipments in 2012 and growing to over 50% by 2015, according to ABI Research.
With the concept of “The Internet of Things” and the growth machine-to-machine (M2M) services, ZigBee offers seven different standards to guide manufacturers when building connected home solutions. The 500-strong ZigBee Certified products list represents, falls within the following ZigBee standards: ZigBee Input Device, ZigBee Health Care, ZigBee Home Automation, ZigBee Light Link, ZigBee Building Automation, ZigBee Remote Control, and ZigBee Smart Energy.
To highlight some standards ZigBee said, they have 135 products in their ZigBee compliant platforms, 246 products in Smart Energy, 66 in home automation and 12 in light link, a new standard for lighting products that offers access/control via smartphone, tablet or remote control.
