3view & MaxLinear Collaborate On HD Digital TV Recorder

3view and MaxLinear have announced that they are collaborating on the development of a HD Digital TV Recorder, a hybrid IPTV and DVB-T2 set top box for 3view. The new device is to be deployed in the UK, and will enable users to view and record free content on over 50 HD TV channels and IPTV (Internet protocol TV), and will feature an integrated Sky Player and BBC iPlayer allow users to "catch up" on previously broadcasted TV shows on these two networks.

For programme recording there will be an internal 500GB hard drive and broadband connectivity for access to the internet. There is a simple user interface to view personal photos, stream digital music,  view home videos and interact with friends & family through Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.

The core of the 3view HD Digital TV Recorder is MaxLinear dual MxL5007T DVB-T2 tuner, which facilitate user access to free-to-air HD channels and internet content. The Turner uses MaxLinear's proprietary digital CMOS technology that meets the requirements of the UK DTG DBook6.1 for DVB-T2 receivers and legacy DVB-T receivers.
