DSP and Comigo Developed DECT ULE Enabled Set-top Box
On the card at this week’s SmartHomes 2012 conference in Amsterdam is the showcasing of a new set-top box home automation solution from DSP Group and Comigo. Both companies have joined their respective technologies to develop the solution based on DECT Ultra Low Energy (ULE) technology.
DSP and Comigo believe that home automation is a natural extension of home entertainment, and the integration of the two technologies will enable consumers to control and monitor the entire home from the comfort of the living room with Comigo's hybrid set-top box.
The new Set-top Box comprises DSP Group's advanced DECT ULE chipset solutions, software stack, and Comigo's smart set-top box, the DSP-Comigo solution provides a simple and intuitive means of controlling and monitoring the home environment.
Talking about the joint development, Jan Abelev, Corporate Vice President of Product Management at DSP Group, said “We are proud to partner with Comigo in offering the world's first DECT ULE-enabled set-top box, extending and enriching the user experience far beyond multimedia and Internet browsing.”
According to DSP and Comigo, DECT ULE technology features extended coverage - allowing nodes and devices located several floors away from the set-top box to communicate through walls and ceilings without intermediate "repeaters." Additionally it offers long battery life, ease of installation and configuration, and the industry's lowest cost of ownership.
"We see a growing demand from consumers for security, monitoring and control services that are simple to install and enable easy management of daily tasks, without infringing on leisure activities," said Sigalit Klimovsky, Vice President of Business Development at Comigo.
