CalAmp, a leading provider of wireless products, services and solutions for Smart Grid applications, has been chosen by Elster, one of the world's largest electricity, gas and water measurement and control providers, to supply the wireless routing hardware and network services for a wide-area advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) for Tennessee's Bolivar Energy Authority (BEA).

Lafayette Utilities System Selects Elster EnergyAxis for Smart Grid Solution

Elster has announced that Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has chosen EnergyAxis as its multi-utility Smart Grid solution.  Partially funded by a United States Department of Energy Smart Grid Investment Grant, the $11.6 million deployment will provide energy-saving benefits to LUS customers.  The turnkey project is anticipated to be installed on a 12-month deployment schedule with completion in 2013.    

Elster Showcases Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Technology At Plug-In 2011

Elster announced that the company is showcasing its Smart Grid solutions for building an electric vehicle infrastructure at Plug-In 2011, a global conference on the engineering advances, industry research and public policies that will create the framework for the future of plug-in hybrid and electric transport.

Elster provides a complete electric vehicle (EV) charging platform that enables utilities and service providers to effectively provide sub-metering for public and residential locations.  

Glasgow Electric Plant Board Selected Elster EnergyAxis for Time-of-Use Billing

Elster announced that Kentucky's Glasgow Electric Plant Board (Glasgow EPB) has selected Elster's EnergyAxis Smart Grid solution to deliver advanced time-of-use (TOU) billing capabilities to its customers.

By deploying the EnergyAxis solution across its infrastructure, Glasgow EPB expects improved operational efficiencies and anticipates empowering its customers to better manage energy usage and lower energy costs.  

Elster Expands Smart Grid Salt River Project with MDM Solution

Elster and the Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District (SRP) announced today that the utility, which is the third-largest public power utility in the United States, will deploy Elster's EnergyICT EIServer meter data management (MDM) solution to manage more than 900,000 planned advanced metering devices in Elster's EnergyAxis® system throughout the utility's service territory.

Elster Appointments Geraldo Guimaraes Jr. to lead Elster Latin America

Elster has announced the appointment of Geraldo Guimaraes Jr. to lead Elster Integrated Solutions (EIS) Latin America. A native of Brazil, Mr. Guimaraes joins Elster from Silver Spring Networks, where he was the director of business development for Brazil. Prior to joining Silver Spring Networks, he served as executive director of Latin America for BPL Global, a Smart Grid technology company. He started his career at CELPA S/A, a power utility from the REDE ENERGIA group, where he worked for 17 years in several positions, including director of technology.

Kansas City Selects Elster's EnergyAxis Smart Grid Solution

AT&T and Elster To Offer Wireless Smart Grid Solutions to Utilities

This month sees the third of one of America’s major telecom operators partnering with a Smart Grid solutions provider to offer their communication infrastructure to the Smart Grid Sector. First it was Sprint and GridNet, then Verizon and SmartSynch and now it’s AT&T* and Elster who have announced a similar partnership. Under the agreement between AT&T and Elster utilities will be able to communicate with Elster's EnergyAxis advanced metering systems via AT&T's high speed cellular data network.
