Allianz and Deutsche Telekom are combining their respective market solutions to offer what they called “connected life” services. Leveraging Telekom’s communication infrastructure both businesses said they are developing a connected home service package for the European market. Connected life will be the combination of Telekom's "Smart Home" solution and "Allianz Assist" emergency assistance service for the home.
In a new report examining the global deployment of smart grid technologies and services from the perspective of growth and market share, GTM Research is expecting Smart Grid Market to Surpass $400 Billion Worldwide by 2020. The report looks at the trend of the smart grid market for the next seven years (2013-2020). GTM are predicting an average compound annual growth rate of over 8%, with China being the largest smart grid market in the world, accounting for over 24% of the global market.
There is a growing market opportunity for those in the eHealth sector, as data out of the eurozone shows there is an increase ratio in its aging population. With the prospect of little family support for the aged in some countries, eHealth solution could be seen as a support solution for those needing routine or constant monitoring.

Apparently there are over 200 active smart grids on the go in Europe at the moment. The map is to provide up to date information on active projects.
