LG Uplus IoT Platform Selected for Residential Homes

LG Uplus, a subsidiary of LG announced that Korea based Ushin General Construction has selected LG Uplus’s IoT @home platform for the Class Apartments in Geumwang Wooshin, South Korea. The LG Uplus apps will be integrated in different services within the home, allowing residents to use connected home appliances such as heating and cooling, lighting and gas control, unmanned delivery services, energy usage checks and parking controls.

These LG Appliances are Compatible with Google Home

With the rise of smart speakers and voice activated smart home solutions LG Electronics has decided to make some of its SIGNATURE brand home appliances Google Home compatible. The range of connected smart devices, include the LG refrigerator, washing machine and dryer, oven range and air purifier as well as an LG air conditioner and robotic vacuum.  With Google Home, you will be able to access the full range of the Google Assistant's features on connected LG appliances.

This year the same thing has happen but this time the tone has changed. Notable partners such as Intel, Adobe and Logitech have made announcements saying they are changing their strategy around the Connected TV platform - which mainly affects Google TV.

Adobe Flash for the Digital Home, Two Years Later

The Adobe Flash platform has come a long way since we first started using web animation. Even more astonishing is its role in facilitating in-home entertainment via the different devices. The Adobe Flash and Adobe AIR platforms have move from being a simple plug-in for desktop applications to being a platform for CE manufacturers to develop solutions for digital home devices. Now, developers can build applications for home devices extending the Flash-based experience to the television.

KIT Digital and LG Electronics In Smart TV Partnership

KIT digital and LG Electronics have signed a strategic partnership agreement.  Under the agreement, both companies will leverage each other’s technologies to develop and deploy a joint multiscreen over-the-top video (OTT) solution.  KIT will also provide content and professional services to the LG's Home Entertainment Division for its Smart TV platform.

LG Releases First Smart Grid-Ready Refrigerator (DIOS)

LG has finally release one of its smart grid aware appliance from the LG THING range. The DIOS as it is called was debuted at this year’s CE Show in Las Vegas. For homes that are connected to the grid the grid-ready refrigerator will connect to the web to get software update. Other features include: Its ability to keep track of daily schedules and dispenses regular weather reports, and instead of having to jot notes on sticky memos, family members can turn the fridge’s LCD screen into a note pad to leave messages for each another. Other smart appliances left to release are ovens, washing machines and microwave. According to LG the refrigerator will conserve energy during peak hours; if the door is left open for long it will alert the user.  The appliances will also allow you to communicate with them via a Tablet, PC or smartphone to check content.

LG THINQ Sets The Lead For Smart Home Appliances

A CES this month LG demonstrated its THINQ Line of smart home appliances; they are smart grid aware, offer smart diagnosis, food management, smart access and smart adapt.  The LG THINQ range which includes refrigerators, ovens, washing machines and robotic vacuum cleaners allow homeowners to manage them through a smart Network.  They also help users to make smart decisions about energy use when they to use these THINQ appliances.

Broadcom Powers LG's Latest Connected TV and Blu-ray Disc Players

Broadcom’s connected digital TV system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform (BCM35230) and other single chip solutions (BCM7633 and BCM43236) have been selected by LG Electronics for its line wireless connected digital TVs and Blu-ray Disc players. The latest chipsets developed with integrated support web media movie services and communications like YouTube, VUDU, Skype, Netflix, Yahoo Widgets and other services. Visitors to this year’s CE show will get the opportunity to learn more about the technology or see it in action.

LG to Unveil New "Total Smart Solution" Home Appliances at CES 2011

LG Electronics has big things in store for the connected home category at this year’s consumer electronics show. The company is planning to change to way we interact with our home appliances; these include clothes dryers, washing machines, microwaves, entertainment systems and refrigerators.  These systems according to the Korean times will be web-enabled to interact with us through our home network and has the ability to self-diagnose malfunctions and flaws.
