University of New Hampshire Selected For RVU Compliance Testing

The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) has been selected by The RVU Alliance as the first independent vendor to handle the certification program for RVU products. According to the Alliance the first RVU client devices are now entering the certification process and should be available in the next few months. The current set of devices will be certified based on the ratified RVU 1.4 specification. Work on the RVU version 2.0 is already started and will include support for advanced graphics, and additional profiles to support mobile client displays.

Marvell Adds Support For RVU Protocol on ARMADA 1000 Chip

rvu allianceThe ARMADA 1000 High Definition media processor System-on-a-Chip (SoC) - part of the ARMADA Processors from Marvell now has support for RVU protocol.  The new solution will be deployed in various low powered consumer electronic (CE) devices such as handsets, tablets and set-top boxes (STB). This is expected to benefit operators by allowing them to provide a consistent viewing experience and features to connected CE devices, while consumers benefit from a standard user experience throughout the home without the need for separate proprietary devices.

Technology Companies Form RVU Alliance To Develop Remote User Interface

Broadcom, Cisco, DIRECTV and Samsung are forming an alliance to develop a specification for a full-featured "pixel accurate” Remote User Interface (RUI) that will form the core of the new RVU technology. The RVU Alliance complements and benefits existing industry interoperability initiatives and underscores its founders’ commitment to the sharing of digital content in the connected home.
