Telekom Slovenia Selects Netgem Hybrid IPTV Middleware for SiOL iO Service

netgemTelekom Slovenia has upgraded it IPTV infrastructure with Netgem TV Middleware Device Management System (DMS) which include Netgem’s smart Set-top Box technology. Telekom Slovenia said from 1 September 2010 they will be using Netgem’s intelligent client to roll out tailored applications to its IPTV customers, and that working with Netgem is part of a bigger plan to expose its 120,000 customers to advance television and to experience a new level in home entertainment.

Onkyo's newest Blu-ray player, the BD-SP808 will offer Blockbuster On Demand. This month, the model will be rolled out in electronics stores nationwide, adding to a list of more than 85 consumer electronic devices that have integrated the service to boost consumer access to the latest releases.Onkyo's BD-SP808 offers other features in addition to Blockbuster On Demand, including a High Quality Video Scaler and full-featured Blu-ray Disc Play Back.

Boxee Offers Movie Library From Indie Movies Online, Openfilm, MUBI and EZTakes

boxee boxAccording to the Boxee blog they have added a new a Movie Library to Boxee to complements it TV Show library. The New library is a combine of films from Indie Movies Online, Openfilm, MUBI and EZTakes.  Most of the movies are for free (supported by ads), and is accessible using the ‘filter by provider’ option on the Movie Library sidebar. The service, said Boxee is still in hit beta stage and highlight what is available from the different partners.

TiVo Slide QWERTY Remote To Use Broadcom Bluetooth

Broadcom has announced that TiVo, the advance television service provider has selected Broadcom’s Bluetooth technology for a new remote.  The new QWERTY keyboard remote control will help TiVo customers to take full advantage of the application services available through its TiVo Premiere, TiVo HD and TiVo Services boxes. The new TiVo Slide QWERTY keyboard remote control is the first TiVo remote to feature Bluetooth, enabling comfortable text entry for search and discovery of content.

Vodafone and Huawei Released DLNA Certified Wi-fi Device R201

Vodafone has announced that they are releasing a new DLNA compatible Wi-Fi device called the R201 – the first DLNA certified mobile Wi-Fi device. It will allow you to share your mobile broadband connection with up to five devices, along with the sharing of documents and other digital media between other certified devices.  The R201 is available on an 18 contract with 5GB data for £25 per month.

Broadcom FastRTVThe transition from analogue to digital television brought many benefits except it is slow when browsing between channels.  Though the slow channel change isn’t enough to make us want to go back it can be frustrating at times.  Broadcom is promising to change this with its recently released FastRTV SoC solution, a channel change acceleration technology for suppliers of STB (set-top box).  Broadcom said FastRTV is will also allow you to change your channels up to 5 times faster.
