Toshiba Reveals Windows and Google Android Tablet: Slate
The General Manger of digital products at Toshiba - Jeff Barney, said the company is planning to launch a tablet PC called “Slate”. Currently Toshiba is looking at a veriety of form factors, including a 10-inch dual-screen with Microsoft Windows. In addition to Microsoft Windows 7 there will be a Google mobile Android operating system.
"We definitely see a place for the slate, we see there's a market there. It'll be expansive like netbooks, it won't be cannibalistic," he said Barney. Toshiba shipped 1.5 million PC units in the January-March period in the United States and The market for tablet computers is expected to grow to as many as 50 million units in 2014, according to research group In-Stat. Companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Dell Inc will also release devices this year.
According to Barney the company is current lining up partners for content. He also said, price wise the Android version will cost less than the windows version.
