Panasonic Certifies Netgear N600 USB Wireless Adapter for VIERA TV

Panasonic has partnered with Netgear to offer wireless internet video access via its VIERA TVs.  Starting with the Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter and other adapter will be by a “Compatible with Panasonic” sticker.  With one less wire to run, the partnership enables users to easily connect their Panasonic Television to a wireless router and access online content from their living room through the TV.

Netflix in Million Dollar Movie Licensing Deal with Epix

Customers of Netflix on-demand services are in line to be able to download and watch  movies distributed by Lionsgate, Mero-Goldwyn-Mayer and Paramount Pictures as part of their subscription with Netflix. According the LAT Epix is in talks with Netflix to give them exclusive rights to films from its three partners  - Lionsgate, Mero-Goldwyn-Mayer and Paramount Pictures.  The cost of the deal to Netflix will be close to $1 billion in licensing fees, and will put Netflix in the same league as Time Warner which sources their movies from Universal Pictures and Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox.

ARCHOS Releases Five Android Tablets

As a follow up to the ARCHOS 7 and ARCHOS 8 Home Tablets, ARCHOS has launch five new Android tablets. The Internet tablets as they are called, consist of the:  wide screen ARCHOS 70 and 100, multi media ARCHOS 43, and the ultra portable ARCHOS 28 and 32.  The new range offers a combination of PC like web-browsing, social networking, games, eBooks and other apps alongside HD video and music in a very slim-line design.

HomePlug AV2 Will Be Ready For The Connected Home

homeplugThe TWG (Technical Working Group) of the Powerline Alliance has announced that they are making steady progress in the development of Homeplug AV2 specification. The group said they hope to finish the specification in the first quarter of 2011 and that they expect Homeplug AV2 specification to deliver a 5x increase in performance over existing Homeplug AV solutions. The AV2 specification will be fully interoperable with current Homeplug AV and future Homeplug Green PHY and IEEE 1901 products.

STMicroelectronics SoC Powers Dish TV Digital TV Solution

dishtvSTMicroelectronics as announced that Dish TV, India's largest Direct-To-Home (DTH) company, with 7.5 Million subscribers, latest set-top boxes are powered by STMicroelectronics’ STi5189 and STi7111 System-on-Chip (SoC) solution. The STB (set-top box) decoder ICs embedded in Dish TV set-top boxes are capable of delivering Standard-Definition (SD) and High-Definition (HD) television viewing. The new set-top boxes are currently being rolled out to Dish TV customers throughout India.
