Seagate announced that they begun distributing Paramount movies on some of its FreeAgent Go portable hard drives.  The deal with Paramount Digital Entertainment has allowed Seagate to ship specially marked FreeAgent Go hard drives with some of Paramount’s movies.  Seagate said the drives are already available for purchase, with a free copy of Star Trek (2009).  Other titles are available but require you to buy the license to unlock and view

Paramount Digital Entertainment (PDE), a division of Paramount Pictures and Kingston Digital part of Kingston Technology Company have collaborated to offer full-length motion picture feature films on Kingston® Flash memory products.  With the size of memory sticks, increasing in size and decreasing price this would make it easier for consumer to manage.  The Kingston DataTraveler 200 for e.g., goes up to 128Gb, this will make it easier to travel with your favourite movies instead of a big DVD case – with one movie.

The DEG (The Digital Entertainment Group) has elected its new board of directors and executive committee for the fiscal year starting 1 August 2009.  Four of the five executive committee members are re-elected.  The Group have also outlined its priorities for the new year: Strong support of Blu-ray Disc and sustainability and will expand its focus to include a wider variety of home entertainment platforms, including 3D and digital delivery.

Sonic Solutions(R) today announced that it is partnering with Fujisoft Incorporated to deliver premium entertainment to the Nintendo Wii game console. Sonic's Roxio CinemaNow(R) will be providing Hollywood content, beginning with new releases and catalog titles from Paramount Pictures, for Fujisoft's video-on-demand service in Japan, called "Minna no Theater Wii" (Everyone's Theater Wii). The companies will continue to work together in order to expand the range of entertainment available for virtually instant streaming to the TV via the popular game console.

Paramount Home Entertainment (PHE) announced today that it will release some of the greatest films ever made for the first time in high definition as part of its exclusive new "Sapphire Series". The Sapphire Series will capitalize on the pristine picture and sound of the Blu-ray format to present each cinematic gem in the highest quality for the first time in two-disc, high definition sets*. The series will kick off on September 1 with two of the most requested Blu-ray releases, Braveheart and Gladiator--both winners of five Academy Awards(R) including Best Picture--followed later in the year by six-time Academy Award(R) winner Forrest Gump.  Each release will include extensive, never-before-seen special features for the ultimate presentation.

Macrovision Solutions Corporation announced that Paramount Home Entertainment has agreed to license Macrovision's content protection products, ACP and RipGuard. ACP and RipGuard provide protection against unauthorized copying of content across packaged media such as DVD as well as electronic channels such as the Internet, cable and DBS.
