In conjunction with this week’s CE Show VIZIO as launch a new set of Smartphone, Tablet, HDTV and Blu-ray players as part of it’s VIA Plus range. According to VIZIO, the VIA Plus devices will unify user experience from the big screen to mobile device; to provide the very best in HD entertainment experience. With the latest in communication technology users will be able to transition their digital content across the different types of devices.

Broadcom’s connected digital TV system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform (BCM35230) and other single chip solutions (BCM7633 and BCM43236) have been selected by LG Electronics for its line wireless connected digital TVs and Blu-ray Disc players. The latest chipsets developed with integrated support web media movie services and communications like YouTube, VUDU, Skype, Netflix, Yahoo Widgets and other services. Visitors to this year’s CE show will get the opportunity to learn more about the technology or see it in action.

Trident as setup a private suite away from the main show at the Luxurious  Wynn Hotel to demonstrate its new class of Internet Connected TV and Set-Top Box (STB) Solutions. Accordng to Trident the demonstration is to highlight its strength in picture quality, 3D TV, connectivity and HD audio. 

WyPlay and Altech have agreed to collaborate to extend the WyPlay software.  WyPlay software so far this year has played and integral part in the roll out of Vodafone and SFR’s digital home gateway solutions in Spain and France. The WyPlay software solution includes a full range of global & local web services, unparalleled connectivity, Over-The-Top web experiences, support for Widgets, and media playback via an intuitive 3D interface.

Rovi Corporation has decided to spread it tentacles wider in the digital home solutions market place with the acquisition of Sonic Solutions. Both companies made the joint announcement last week that the Rovi will acquire Sonics in through a combination of stocks and shares worth about $720 million US dollars. With the acquisition of Sonic Rovi has stepped into the digital video processing, playback and distribution technologies.

Catch Media and Rovi have partnered to extend Catch Media digital media offering. Both companies have signed an agreement that will allow Catch Media to integrated Rovi’s entertainment data and technology into catch media’s Play Anywhere entertainment solution platform.  The integration of Rovi solutions into the Catch Media platform is designed to enable users to find information and rich media content about their favourite music and artists in their home media playlists where ever and when ever they want.

SFR of France has left no stone unturned with its sixth generation Neufbox home gateway – dubbed Neufbox Evolution. The box is a set-top box and home gateway all in one; it offers IPTV multiscreen access, Femtocell connectivity, the ability to connect directly to ADSL and Fibre-to-the-home and a host of other functions. Users have the option to connect the Neufbox Evolution wired or wirelessly. The IPTV service offers over a hundred channels plus the option to save content locally. Prices start at 29.90 euros and vary depending on additional features.

Telecom providers can now extend their service offering with a new television solution called FusionTV from Entone.  The Connected home solution provider has released the hybrid TV platform to enable telecom operators to offer “Over the Top” (OTT) content mixed with Standard HDTV programming.  The flexibility of the FusionTV manage services allows linear HDTV services to be delivered by traditional programming sources such as IPTV, cableTV or OTA broadcasts plus online media services such as video on demand (VOD), music streaming, photo sharing, social media and other popular web content an

Recently launched DivX TV is now available on LG Electronics Home Theater Systems LHB335, LHB535 and LHB975 and Blu-ray Disc Players BD550, BD570 and BD590.  The new systems are available to US shoppers from Best Buy and Amazon. Through the DixX TV platform owners of any of the above LG systems can now access on demand content such as internet videos, customized content and original web programming.

China’s Television Manufacturer TCL has licenses the Digital Interactive Interface for Video & Audio™ (DiiVA™) consortium, smart TV platform for its next generation of connected TV.  Under its recently released technology standard , DiiVA as created a new architecture that allows consumers to access their digital content across all 3 screens (PC, Mobile and TV).
