D-Link said this morning that they are launching a new line of Whole Home Routers with its patented SmartBeam technology.  The new range of Wireless-N Routers is due out in the first quarter of this year. The SmartBeam-enabled wireless routers are ideal for anyone who suffers from "dead-spot" issues in your home, and will be able to work with a wide array of devices Android phones, iPad, iPhone, laptops, entertainment systems.

D-Link Launching DLNA Certifed HD Media Routers

D-Link will be launching three new DLNA certified 1080p High Definition media routers (HD Media Router 1000, HD Media Router 2000 and HD Media Router 3000) at CES 2011, when the show starts tomorrow. The HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657) was selected as a CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award honoree in the Home Networking product category. All models include HD Fuel technology and Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize High Definition traffic.

Broadcom to Launch 11 Connected Home SetTop Box Solutions at CES 2011

Broadcom has announced that they will launch eleven new set-top box system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions at this year’s CE Show in Las Vegas. According to the company these set-top box chipsets are designed specifically for the connected home and features integrated NDS VideoGuard Security Kernel that provide secure digital content delivery for next generation connected home devices.

Sigma Designs Takes SMP8910 Media Processor to CES 2011

Sigma Design has announced that they will be taking their star chip (the SMP8910) to CES along with a range of connected home device solutions. According to them the SMP8910 media processor has made it possible for families to enjoy the same high quality entertainment that was only available in broadcasting and professional markets. Other solutions coming to the show include android platforms, Blu-ray, connected TV, Homeplug AV, Wireless display, powerline and home control.

The DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) is closing off the year on a high note after a busy 2010.  The Alliance has added three new companies to the existing 26 member in its promoter member group. With a new DLNA Lab in China, the Alliance is expanding it reach and expertise across sectors and geography. Verismo Networks has selected Sigma Designs’ System-on-Chip (SoC) solution to power its Broadband TV set-top box (STB). The Sigma Designs chip - SMP8652 Secure Media Processor, is a single-chip SoC solution that offers support for some of the latest STB technologies.  It has an on chip support for USB 2.0, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet and an advance decoder engine to power high definition videos. Broadcom Announces First SoC 40nm HD 3DTV, Set-top Box Video Gateway Solution

Broadcom is offering OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and reference design developers of connected home devices a new System-on-Chip (SoC) solution that offers superior speed and better integration. The new chip is called the BCM7422, and is the industry’s first SoC to combine a 1.3GHz multi-threaded MIPS with the latest MPEG industry standard scalable video coding (SVC) that allows STBs (set-top box) to offer 1080p high definition 3DTV.

SFR France Launched Home Gateway: Neufbox Evolution

SFR of France has left no stone unturned with its sixth generation Neufbox home gateway – dubbed Neufbox Evolution. The box is a set-top box and home gateway all in one; it offers IPTV multiscreen access, Femtocell connectivity, the ability to connect directly to ADSL and Fibre-to-the-home and a host of other functions. Users have the option to connect the Neufbox Evolution wired or wirelessly. The IPTV service offers over a hundred channels plus the option to save content locally. Prices start at 29.90 euros and vary depending on additional features.
