Broadcom Adds Norton Security To 5G WiFi Home Router Platform

Broadcom and Norton have finally released more detail about what they have been working on over the past few months. Around the middle of last year both companies announced that they are collaborating on a new security solution for the home. CE manufactures using the Broadcom’s ’s BCM4708x chipset for new 5G WiFi (802.11ac) routers can now offer additional security features. This is because The BCM4708x series now has Norton Security as part of the chip.

HydraConnect HDMI Processors Now Support RTI Home Automation Systems

Denver based processor manufacturer HydraConnect has announced support for RTI (Remote Technologies Inc.) home automation systems to its HDMI matrix processors. The control software which has been added to the HSS family will allow custom installers to easily integrate HydraConnect HSS systems into RTI home automation systems.

UK Needs More FTTH To Improve Its Broadband Strategy

FTTH (Fibre-to-the-Home) is the ultimate in broadband connection, but despite its possible benefit establish/old economics are slow to roll out the technology.  Reasons for their lack lustre approach is: its cost too much;  it will take too long to see the return on investment; it’s not needed, these and many other reasons are sighted for the low penetration of Fibre in the UK. Based on data from the FTTH Council Europe the UK  is far away from those countries leading in rolling out fibre-to-the-Home broadband.

Glasgow City Gets £24M Smart City Investment

Like other countries around the world, the UK wants its cities to be smart, connected, energy efficient and maximise its resources. Recently 30 of the UK’s cities were nominated to be the test bed for the latest smart cities initiatives. Of the 30 possible UK cities, the department of innovation selected the city of Glasgow to be the recipient of a £24 million investment to demonstrate how Britain’s cities will use technology in the future.
