Verizon Home Media Server Coming In 2012

Verizon is to introduce a new range of Home Media Servers to work with its set-top boxes.  The new Verizon Media Servers will be more energy efficient and will only need a scale down version Verizon set-top box in each room connected to your television. Developed in partnership with Motorola; Verizon said they will only need to deploy a smaller set-top box to each room, one that is small enough to connected to the back of your television.

Linyang Selected Cinterion For Smart Meters and Power Management Solutions

Cinterion has announced that Chinese base Linyang Electronics is integrating Cinterion's tiny BGS2 in their smart metering products and power utilization management terminals. Cinterion's module provides secure wireless data communications for a range of Linyang products and services including load monitoring and control. These services help power companies and consumers conserve energy, automatic meter reading to simplify reporting and billing procedures, smart grid equipment monitoring and anti-theft and alarm applications to protect assets in the field.

DSP and Jungo Partnered On DECT ULE Home Automation Solution

Jungo and DSP Group have announced plans to jointly develop a home monitoring and automaton solution based on DECT Ultra Low Energy (ULE) technology. The collaboration joins together DSP's DECT ULE chipset and Jungo's OpenRG advanced middleware for residential gateways. DECT ULE is an ideal home monitoring and automaton platform as it offers long battery life, ease of installation and configuration and extended coverage.

To go a bit further the model for future home electrical devices and components is they should be communicable, even the light bulb we use. The idea behind the” internet of things” is that every one of these components and devices will have an IP address or addressable, thus the demand for IPv6.  This intercommunication is not a question of if because these technologies are already available.

South Korea and Gale Build Connected City, Songdo
