Samsung Showcases 2011 Connected Product Line

Samsung last week unveil its new line of consumer electronics for 2011 at its Samsung Experience show.  The event demonstrated everything Samsung; from Television, Tablets, notebooks, cameras and more. Among the many new products features and functionality, Samsung want to highlight its new connectivity concept called the Nth- Screen. The concept is driving Samsung’s vision to offer seamless connectivity and interoperability between devices.

Wyplay Studio Coming to IPTV World Forum (London)

IBM, Cable and Wireless Offer UK Utilities Smart Energy Cloud

IBM has found a network and communications solutions provider to partner with for its smart meter monitoring software. They have announced a partnership with Cable and Wireless to develop a UK Smart Energy Cloud to support the UK’s smart meter implementation programme.  Using its smart meter data gathering and analytic platform and supported by Cable and Wireless communications infrastructure IBM hopes to collect and store data gathered from the 50 million smart meters to be install in the in UK homes and business over the next nine years.

IDC “Worldwide Quarterly Smart Meter Tracker” Predictions

There is a wide window of opportunity at the moment for smart meter and communications vendors, according to the latest IDE Energy Insight report “Worldwide Quarterly Smart Meter Tracker”.  IDC predicts that global smart meter shipments are expected to grow 13% from 2010 to 2015.  The report pointed out Europe and Asia Pacific – mainly China as the main growth areas for the next five years.

Alstom Grid Opens China Technology Center in Shanghai

Alstom Grid has today opened its China Technology Center in Shanghai, during an inauguration ceremony officiated by Patrick Kron, Alstom Chairman and CEO, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Alstom Grid President and public officials.

The facility, located in Shanghai’s Caoheijing Pujiang High-Tech Park, is an advanced centre for research, development and testing of Ultra High Voltage Alternating Current (UHVAC) and Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) transmission equipment and energy management solutions.

Frostdale Nanogrid Wireless Switch Won Red Dot Award

Frostdale, a manufacturer of home automation and energy management solutions for residential and commercial buildings has been awarded the red dot award: product design award for its Nanogrid Wireless Switches.  The Nanogrid Wireless Switch was among the 4,433 products from designers and companies from 60 countries. The switches are Z-Wave compatible* so they can be integrated with other connected appliances in the home to offer users more flexibility and better user experience.

CABA Joins Automation Federation (AF)

CABA, an international, non-profit industry association dedicated to the advancement of intelligent home and intelligent building technologies and The Automation Federation (AF) have signed a memorandum of membership initiating CABA as one of the newest members of the Automation Federation.
