Intel, Vodafone Partnered on Connected Home Framework

Vodafone and Intel have decided to join forces through the combination of each others market solutions. They have announced their joint effort to accelerate Machine-to-Machine communication in and outside the home.  Intel has promise to release and Atom-based developer’s kit that will make it easier for Consumer Electronic (CE) manufacturers and Independent Software Vendors (ISV) to develop solutions to facilitate easier M2M communication. As partner Vodafone will provide the network and connectivity services for the devices.
 

Crestron Shipping Prodigy Systems: PMC3 and PMC3-XP

Crestron has announced that they are now shipping their next generation of Prodigy control systems, the PMC3 and PMC3-XP. An upgrade from the PMC2 the new models especially the PMC3-XP controls even more devices in the home. These new models even make it the first time that Prodigy can support the full Crestron product line, creating even more possibilities for the connected home. The PMC3 range allows home owners to start their home automation with simple home audio and wireless lighting control and grow the system later if they wish.

SmartSynch Introduces 3G Platform for Smart Meters

SmartSynch has collaborated with Qualcomm to develop a new 3G communication platform for Smart Meters. The new SmartSynch and Qualcomm platform is the world’s first integrated over-the-air application portfolio for the smar grid.  Adapted for its IP-based framework the Qualcomm’s Brew MP platform will help SmartSynch to provide a more flexible and robust wireless infrastructure for Utilities and their customers.

Vodafone Launches WebBox for TVs in Emerging Markets

Vodafone has extends its product range to support its customers in regions where there is limited access to the internet, with the development of the Vodafone WebBox.  Considered to be the first device of its kind; it was developed specially for customers in emerging markets to make internet access more affordable. With no set-up required, the plug and play keyboard converts any standard domestic television into an internet portal, so that its customers have to everyday internet services.

Control4, Cisco Collaborate on Smart+Connected Platform

Cisco and Control4, two of the connected home heavy weights have entered into a strategic partnership around the creation of smart home energy management solutions.  Both companies already have their own platform; control4 has its EMS 100 Suite and Cisco has the Home Energy Controller (HEC).  Control4 recently announced that it was going through another round of funding, which could be the drive behind this partnership with Cisco.

Netcomm Selects Sierra AirPrime For Liberty Series LTE Wi-Fi Router

Netcomm has collaborated with Sierra Wireless to develop a new line of Netcomm Liberty Series LTE Wi-Fi router. Netcomm is hoping to tap into the growing 4G market around the world with this new line of routers that are also backward compatible with third and second generation 3G and 2G wireless frequencies. The new range will use Sierra Wireless AirPrime MC7750 and MC7710 intelligent embedded modules.

NETGEAR Releases Second Generation Femtocell, MF100H

Netgear today announced the release of its MF100H Second generation Femtocell device. The MF100H is a new addition to the Netgear’s range of home networking solutions and mobile portfolio.  According to Netgear the MF100H complements the current NETGEAR broadband gateway and router lineup widely used by Cable TV Multiple Systems Operators (MSOs) and Telco broadband service providers for residential and business customers.
