SoftAtHome Opens Office in Dubai to Support Gulf Region

Digital Home software provider SoftAtHome, is opening a new office in Dubai to support the current deployment of its technology by Etisalat. As their first subsidiary outside of Europe, SoftAtHome said they want to address the needs of other operators in the region. The SoftAtHome range of digital home software helps operators and 3rd party developers to create innovative and convergent applications for the Digital Home.

German Electric Vehicles to Support HomePlug Green PHY

The HomePlug Green PHY standard allows which allows networking capable home appliances to communicate with the smart grid infrastructure will be supported for German electric vehicles. In an accouchement at the computex show in Taipei, the major German car manucfacturers (Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and Volkswagen) working through the Coordination Office Charging Interface said they will support the HomePlug’s IEEE 1901 Profile Green PHY standard for charging electric vehicles.

Schneider to Develop Home Automation Products for Indian Market

Recent acquisition in India has made it company’s seventh biggest market outside the U.S., China and France, they are hoping to move the Indian market into fourth place.

Verizon to Launch Home Monitoring and Control Service

Visitors to this week’s Connected Home Global Summit in London were given an overview of the soon to be launch ‘Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service’, for its U.S. customers.  The solution was developed in conjuction with 4Home and was first debuted at CES 2011. The idea behind the services is to get more of the devices in our homes connected and using power of the cloud we will have access to these devices from anywhere and at any time.

GK Smart Energy Selected Semitech for Advanced Metering

Semitech Semiconductor Powerline communication SoC (System-0n-Chip) solution has been selected by GK Smart Energy for European Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment. The Semitech SM6401 chipset will be integrated into the GK Smart Energy Solutions AMI platform, which allows operators to remotely manage smart meters, street lights and connected machines.
