Broadcom’s connected digital TV system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform (BCM35230) and other single chip solutions (BCM7633 and BCM43236) have been selected by LG Electronics for its line wireless connected digital TVs and Blu-ray Disc players. The latest chipsets developed with integrated support web media movie services and communications like YouTube, VUDU, Skype, Netflix, Yahoo Widgets and other services. Visitors to this year’s CE show will get the opportunity to learn more about the technology or see it in action.

MIPS Continues Android For Home With SmartCE Platform

MIPS is back this year At CES to show us how far they have reached with their Android work. The company has unveiled a new SmartCE (Connected Entertainment) platform. SmartCE is designed to provide a connected experience with integrated support for Home Jinni ConnecTV application, Adobe Flash Platform for TV, Android, Skype, social media and other platforms. According to MIPS president Art Swift, SmartCE complements other connected platforms like Yahoo! Connected TV and can be extended to Google TV.

Qualcomm debuts Shifta, a media shifting service at CES 2011, one of the technologies we highlight would be debuting there. The Skifta service gives users the ability to control and play their music, photos and videos on connected devices at home, at a friend's house, at work or on any WiFi network without syncing or side loading media to the phone. It is also certified to stream digital content to DLNA certified devices.

Schneider Electric Acquires Telvent India

Telvent GIT, a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that Telvent and Schneider Electric have entered into an agreement under which Schneider Electric will launch an offer to acquire all Telvent shares at U.S. $40.00 per share. In connection with the transaction, Abengoa has irrevocably agreed to tender its 40% stake in Telvent to Schneider Electric in the offer. The transactions are subject to certain conditions, including approvals of European and U.S. competition authorities and other material conditions.

D-Link will be launching three new DLNA certified 1080p High Definition media routers (HD Media Router 1000, HD Media Router 2000 and HD Media Router 3000) at CES 2011, when the show starts tomorrow. The HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657) was selected as a CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award honoree in the Home Networking product category. All models include HD Fuel technology and Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize High Definition traffic.
